APEX PARK

Public BBQ

A shady riverside reserve a short walk from the centre of Stratford, set beneath some magnificent old gum trees. Parking is generous and the public toilets are a cut above what you usually find, being clean and fitted with an outdoor sink and liquid soap for washing up. Getting down to the Avon is easy on foot or by four-wheel drive, and the water running down from the mountains upstream stays clean and cool. That makes it a favourite with dog walkers looking for somewhere their dog can have a drink and cool off in the shade under the bridge. There is a playground and a picnic area, though plenty of people prefer to carry lunch down to the riverbank. An interesting walk rounds it out, and town is close enough for a coffee afterwards.
